The
Meetings Industry Association of Australia is
a national, independent not for profit body dedicated
to fostering professionalism and excellence in
all aspects of meetings management. In addition
to promoting the value and effectiveness of meetings
as a communications medium, MIAA also promotes
meetings as a important high-yield sector of business
travel and tourism.
MIAA offers Professional Development programs,
disseminates information and represents the industry
to government and the wider business community.
The Association is governed by a National Council
of fourteen directors. The directors include a
representative of each state branch, plus seven
nationally-elected members. In addition to a national
secretariat, there are branch offices in the Australian
Capital Territory (ACT), Queensland (QLD), New
South Wales (NSW), Northern Territory (NT), South
Australia (SA), Tasmania (TAS), Victoria (VIC),
and Western Australia (WA). At present there are
over 1800 members Australia-wide.
